| Huge VLF-HF Antenna !! |
| You won't find one more rugged than this! This is a 300kHz to 30MHz whip" antenna made to mount on the top of Navy Ships! Rated at 5kW continuous power, 10kW pep, and able to withstand winds of 150mi/h and 100mi/h with ice! It is a vertical "flagpole" made of two pieces which thread together and a major insulator at the bottom with a bolt flange to hold it down. It is 35 feet tall when assembled. The two sections are hollow tapered cylinders of fiberglass and a thermosetting epoxy resin. Embedded in the fiberglass are six copper-beryllium strips laid in a single-turn spiral. The bottom section is similar except that it's diameter expands from 3-7/8inches to 5-7/16 inches at the bottom feed point. It is integral with the bottom base insulator for maximum strength. Threaded brass couplings are moulded into each section, and a o-ring provides a watertight connection. Resonant Frequency: 3.95MHz, Dry withstanding voltage 25kV, Electrical length 36.4 feet.
